(ed. note: This is part of an ongoing series introducing the artists that will be performing for the Supercell of Giving Benefit Concert to help those affected by the recent tornadoes. Buf is awesome and we’re thrilled to have her come and perform.)
How often does someone get to go on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and sing a duet with Neil Diamond? If you’re Buffy Lawson, at least once.
Buffy is a former member of the Curb Records duo Bomshel. She recently left that gig after several years of writing, recording, and non-stop touring. Now, she’s getting to do what Buffy wants to do – and she’s not wasting any time.
Buffy moved to Nashville in the 90’s and did what so many artists new to town seem to do. She toiled for what seemed like a lifetime to be noticed and taken seriously by the industry – and she rose to become one of the most in-demand demo singers in town. It wasn’t an easy path, but just like those other artist, it was a path she had to take. Eventually that path would place her together with Kristy O. and together they’d form Bomshel. A record deal later (Buffy is still signed with Curb) and it was time for Buffy to step out on her own, again.
Buffy has worked with Harlan Howard, Robert Byrne, Neil Diamond, Rivers Ruthorford, and Lorrie Morgan – and she’s shared a stage with Clint Black, Montgomery Gentry, Dwight Yokam, Styx , The New Cars, Jo Dee Messina, Don Williams, and Trace Atkins.
Currently Buffy is writing and recording, and just enjoying life.
