CMA Music Festival: Ty Herndon

By

One of my favorite parts of the CMA Music Festival was having a chance to sit down with Ty Herndon to discuss his music and find out a little bit more about him! What’s not to like about Ty? He’s a great guy all-around!

Ty Herndon is a household name to country music fans due to his impressive string of hits that began in 1995 when Herndon’s debut single, “What Mattered Most,” rocketed to number one. With 17 singles that have landed him on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, numerous industry awards, and more than 4 million albums sold, one might think Herndon would be content to sit back and reflect on his career achievements. Instead, Herndon recently signed a new recording deal with FUNL Music. The Nashville label has announced Ty Herndon as its flagship artist, and released to radio “Journey On,” the title single from his upcoming album.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Benefit with Sarah Darling & Amber Hayes

By
country-music-blog-NashvilleHype

On June 25, 2011, a special benefit organized by cancer survivor, Jim Asker, was held from 2pm-6pm at Tin Roof 2 in Franklin, TN featuring amazing artists: Amber Hayes and Sarah Darling.  Plus, hosted by GAC‘s Suzanne Alexander, who I met for the first time that day, and let me tell you, she’s one of the coolest people around! Owner of Tin Roof 2, Kyle McPhee stated prior to the benefit that day that “anytime he can help support a cause and allow people to have a benefit there at Tin Roof 2, he is more than happy to do it and loves having benefits there.“  He’s really a great guy all-around and should be commended for his efforts in the community.

Margaret Durante Becomes First Independent Label Artist Ever to Debut at #1 on GAC

By
country-music-blog-NashvilleHype!

Up-and-coming Emrose Records artist, Margaret Durante, made an astounding and record-breaking debut on GAC this week by becoming the first independent label artist ever to enter the GAC Top 20 Country Countdown at #1!

Margaret’s new video “Maybe Tonight” was filmed in Nashville, TN back in early April and features Durante with co-star, Quinn Ballard, who plays her love interest in the video and whom she picked out to play her love interest from a group of men selected as possible candidates.   She especially liked her co-star because he just came off as an everyday guy who was “real” and not just a typical male model type that so often gets selected.

CMA Music Festival: Sitting Down with Jason Jones

CMA Music Festival: Sitting Down with Jason Jones

Of course, maybe I should change the title of this article because Jason Jones is doing anything, BUT sitting down when it comes to his career! He’s too busy touring all across this U.S. this summer, but he was kind enough to take a few minutes to speak with me during CMA Music Festival to discuss his music and exciting things happening in his career.

He is a new artist signed to Warner Music.  I simply adore Jason and I know that you will, too, once you get a chance to find out a little more about him right here on NashvilleHype!

CD Release Party: Liz Sharpe

By
Nashville_country_music_blog_NashvilleHype!

Let me start by saying that I just love Liz Sharpe! I’ve known her for a little over a year now and I’m not sure if you could meet a sweeter person anywhere.  With that said, I’m excited to announce the release of her debut CD entitled “Kiss Your Soul” on June 15, 2011.  She celebrated her official CD release with an amazing show to a packed house at 12th and Porter in downtown Nashville.  Extremely cool show! You won’t often find a cello on stage, along with violin, and 4 back-up singers! Liz did a great job and I was blown away by her artistry.  I have seen Liz perform many times before and each time she did a fantastic job.  However, with this show, she took her performance up to the next level and really brought this house down.

Book Review: Twang: A Novel – Toss This One in the Trash Where It Belongs

By
TwangCover1-430x675

Well, I have been waiting to write this book review for almost a month now.  I’ve just been too busy with coverage of actual important events to place any time on this, but now I have finished the book and I’m ready to give my complete, unfiltered opinion about this book.  I wanted to read it from top to bottom to make absolutely certain that there was not one redeemable quality about this book.  I was just looking for one.  Not asking for much.  I never found one!

Stealing Angels and Toy to Make Inaugural Overseas Visit to Entertain U.S. Troops

By
Nashville_country_music_blog_NashvilleHype!

This came through my inbox today and how long did it take me to decide whether I would post it or not? Less than a minute maybe? I just had to get home to post it! So it’s no secret that I’m a huge supporter of both Stealing Angels and Toy.  Both have been featured on this site by me.  Love them both and excited for them! Have fun entertaining the troops overseas and come back safely, please! Awesome opportunity for both and couldn’t happen to better people.  My only regret is that I can’t go over there with them, take pictures, video and write a feature article right here about it!

My Apology To Vince – And Vince Gets Some Good News

By
country-music-blog-in-nashville

It was shoot the messenger week here at NashvilleHype! (wasn’t the first, probably won’t be the last).  The other day I pointed out that our good friend, good buddy, old pal, and chum (I don’t really know the dude) Vince Gill was a jerk to one of my personal friends (but I’ve heard how he can be).

I’m sorry I did that because, rather than being upset with Vince for being that way, several of my other good friends got upset at me for talking about it.  I even lost one of my own friends over him being a jerk.  Go figure.
