Veron Ennis is one of my best friends and someone I simply adore like no other person alive today. She is also one of the world’s great artist.
What does she have to do with Nashville? Nothing per se, but sometimes I think Nashville needs a touch of class and is woefully lacking in world renowned art. Sure, there’s the Frist Center and the Libraries, and such, but they don’t yet have an Ennis hanging in them – like serious collectors have throughout not only the country – but literally, the world. And they should. I don’t say this with hyperbole – I truly believe Veron will one day be considered one of the great artist of this century.
Below is a kind of ‘introduction’ to Veron, her art, her process, and her life. I hope there are those of you who read NashvilleHype! (and there probably are) with serious connections who will advocate to the powers that be to place an Ennis in their gallery, their museum, or their home. It’s time that Nashville gets a taste of what people in places like NY, Washington DC, Miami, Atlanta, Germany, Latvia (Latvia! for crying out loud), already have hanging on their walls.
