Ashlee Hewitt performed for the first time for a national audience as part of NBC’s Nashville Star.  Rather than trying to show her vocal prowess as so many other contestants did, Ashlee decided to do a simple, humble version of Colbie Caillat’s “Bubbly” — and it was a great performance.

It’s pretty obvious the judges, John Rich, Jeffrey Steele, and Jewel really like Ashlee - not only as a performer, but as a person.  I said in my last post how I hoped that Ashlee’s personality would show through despite being on TV, and it did.  You could tell what a genuine person she is - from the call she made announcing she had made it on the show, to her performance, the camera captured the Ashlee we’ve all come to know and love.

Ashlee had originally performed an original song for the judges, “Georgia To Set Me Free” - which led to her getting her pass on the show.  All judge John could say was, “Touchdown!”.  And Jeffrey Steele - one of Nashville’s most successful and prolific writers said, “it was the best original song he’s heard” from any other contestant who tried out.

Tonight’s performance was no different — a touchdown in every way.  I hope all our readers here at NashvilleHype! remember to vote for Ashlee - and vote often!   She’s so talented  - I can’t wait for you to see what she has planned in the following weeks.

Of course, NashvilleHype! will keep you informed.
